Their style is a shift in perspective that hip-hop fans are seeking. It is a unique viewpoint for those that want to keep it real. Unlike the fake studio thugs and gangsters by Universal, Sony or Warner and their affiliates, Now Entertainment’s outlaws have the criminal past to back up their lyrics.
As a kid, Tony M Fountain preferred street enlightenment to school work. School time for him meant writing lyrics and indulging in rap battles. He was a notoriously violent kid, and the rap battles would end in violence. He was incarcerated in a juvenile prison. After his prison sentence, school was a forgotten chapter. It is surprising that he would later on graduate from Full Sail University. Tony M Fountain is now a single dad with two kids.
When the CCO Michael Excluzive Boyington was young, he used to clean banks for survival. At one point, he stole a few thousand dollars left on a table and bought his first car with the money. He was still too young to drive at that time.
Kyrke, Yard Call, and Jook Jones are all gangster disciples. In the early days of the label, SK was a drug dealer and murdered someone in self-defense in an attempted robbery instance.
Because of all these running on the wrong side of the law, it is believed that Now Entertainment is funded by drug money. However, when asked to comment about it, Tony M Fountain says all that is not true.
Whatever their rap sheet, the Now Entertainment crew can truly rap. You must agree that there is high demand for that now.
